Tachihara (EN)

Tachihara Inuki (1951-2015, until 1995 known as Katsuhara Shinya)

Tachihara Inuki, (occasionally also found as Tatsuhara), as a self-taught woodblock print artist developed a very distinctive, often slightly surrealistic or fantastic style, fusing formal and thematic features of traditional ukiyo-e with contemporary graphic art. He achieved great mastership in carving and printing. His excellent high-quality woodblock reproductions of Edo period masters, especially Kuniyoshi, are highly esteemed by connoisseurs. For the artist cf. the website inuki-art.com, and as Arnaud Vaulerin "Inuki Tachihara, le maître du monde flottant", in Liberation; 1.12.2014
