"Krishna and Radha“

The god Krishna and his companion Radha strolling under a beautiful peepal tree (sacred fig), two monkeys sitting in the tree (symbol of the god Hanuman) and two more are playing under the tree. Next to the godly couple a pair of peacocks (symbol for Krishna), a farmer with three decorated cows walking towards them.

Large miniature painting with opaque watercolour and gold on card board, verso: old Arabic handwriting with ink.

Sheet size: 30 x 40,5 cm

Decorative, colourful and carefully executed North Indian Mughal painting from the 19th century, some small areas with colour loss, altogether very good condition.
