Ogi - Japanese folding fan with landscape
The leaf is painted on both sides with watercolours on silk.
Front: A burden bearer walking a mountain path gazing at Mt. Fuji. This painting of ink and fine colours is inspired by a view of the Mt. Fuji by Hokusai.
Back: Summer flowers and a pomegranate with a flying bird.
Fan´s skeleton made of bamboo, guard sticks made of ivory painted with golden lacquer flowers (Hiramaki-e), on the front guard stick a bird and on the back guard stick a bug both made of coloured mother of pearl (Shibayama technique). Rivet made of brass colouerd metal.
