Album with beige coloured silk binding of the time, containing 54 nishiki-e, with preface, without title page. Each woodblock print is mounted on cardboard, small damages (stains, paper loss, small tears) mostly at the corners. Altogether good colours and condition of this complete and popular series.
This classic work of literature the “Genji Monogatari” was written by the Lady Murasaki Shikibu in the 11th century. It remained its popularity and importance throughout the centuries and was republished for several times.
