Unknown Artist – Okumura Masanobu (1686-1764) attr.
Lying couple, completely absorbed in making love, forgetting about the sake and sushi next to them.
Sumizuri-e, hand coloured (beni-e)
Date: c. 1710/1720
Size: Horizontal Oban, 27,7 x 37 cm
Very good impression, with original hand colouring with beni red and another colour (faded). Damages from age and wear, such as creases, folds, tears and stains expertly restored. Paper soiled and toned. In keeping with the age overall fair condition.
A very lovely image with smooth flowing lines. Very rare. On verso by pencil an old attribution to Okumura Masanobu (1686-1764); from stylistic reasons an attribution to Torii KIyonobu I (1664-1729) or school would also be conceivable.
