Torii Kiyonaga (1752-1815)

Lovers, the man stimulates the woman with his fingers. Behind them a tsuzumi (small drum) in the Tokonoma niche and an inrô (traditional Japanese case for small objects) on the floor.

Title: unread (… ki)

Series: Imayô jûni-kagami (Twelve mirrors in the modern style)

Date: ca. 1784-86

Size: Chûban, 19,2 x 26 cm (paper size)

Very good impression, with relief printing. Colours a little bit faded. With some creases due to age and usage, three wormholes at upper margin, neatly restored, otherwise throughout good condition.

This series with intimate love scenes is - beside the series Shikidô jûniban - quite rightly regarded as one of the main erotic artworks of Kiyonaga.
