Utagawa (Nakai) Yoshitaki (1841-1899)

In a bamboo grove at night: Miyamoto Musashi, dressed in yukata (bathrobe kimono), fighting with a broken beam of the bathhouse against Shirakura Dengoemon, who tried to ambush and murder him in the bath. The dramatic Kabuki scene, performed in the 2nd month of 1862 at the Kado Theatre in Osaka, is set on the island of Ganryûjima. The role of the famous hero Musashi is played by the actor Arashi Rikaku II, Mimasu Baisha I plays the role of Dengoemon.
