Elegant Chinese export folding fan
Exquisite fan with paintings in gouache technique on both sides.
Front: Fighting warriors dressed in uniforms. The faces are painted on small ivory plates applied to the fan. The uniforms are decorated with pieces of colorful silk.
Back: Birds between gorgeous peonies in full bloom, framed by a blue bordure with ornaments.
Leaf made of paper with colourful gouache paintings on both sides. Fan´s skeleton is made of red lacquer, the 16 wide sticks are decorated with black lacquer. The painting on the sticks shows ladies during a conversation fanning air.
