Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) (1786-1865)

The final scene, under blossoming plum trees, in a New Year's performance of a Soga no Taimen drama about the two legendary Soga brothers taking revenge on their father's murderer, Kudô Suketsune.

On the right Ichimura Uzaemon XIII as brother Jûrô Sukenari, in the middle Nakamura Shikan IV as Kudô Suketsune, and on the left Kawarazaki Gonjûrô I as brother Gorô Tokimune.
