Tachihara Inuki, (occasionally also found as Tatsuhara), as a self-taught woodblock print artist developed a very distinctive, often slightly surrealistic or fantastic style, fusing formal and thematic features of traditional ukiyo-e with contemporary graphic art. He achieved great mastership in carving and printing. His excellent high-quality woodblock reproductions of Edo period masters, especially Kuniyoshi, are highly esteemed by connoisseurs.
