Ôta Masamitsu (Gakô) (1892-1975)

The actor Nakamura Kichiemon I (1886-1954) with a fan in his hand.
He plays the daimyo Ichijô Ôkura-Kyô in the play „Kiichi Hôgen Sanryaku no Maki“.

Perfect impression and colours, with relief printing, glossy overprint, and printed with mica on the background. Full margins. At lower right margin the blind stamped number of the item (100). Uppermost margin neatly turned around, as often. Paper a tiny bit toned due to its age, verso a few small minor spots, at left margin small drying holes as usual. Perfect condition. Complete set with the original folder and a supplementary sheet. Folder verso also numbered „100“.

The actors portraits by Masamitsu belong to the highlights of modern Kabuki woodblock prints, technically as well as artistically.
