Imoto Tekiho (b. 1909)

Tall bamboo stalks and shoots in the shore, in the hazy distance a sailboat on calm water. Sumizuri woodblock print in different shades of black ink, in the Chinese-inspired Nanga style.

Excellent impression and condition with full margins. Round watermark "Do" (for Doi) in the upper left corner. Date of first edition unknown, this impression likely c. 1950s. A rarely seen print.
The artist, a Nanga painter and pupil of Dômoto Inshô, was represented with a painting in the large exhibition of works by contemporary Japanese artists 1931 in Berlin.
