Portrait of a seated young melancholy woman, holding a rose in her right hand, shown on an opened hand scroll. Beside a Hannya Noh mask of an evil spirit and some more roses. The Hannya mask often stands for jealousy.

Date: ca 1900-1910

Size: 22,3 x 31,2 cm

Kuchi-e (frontispiece woodblock print).

Very good impression and colours, with glossy overprint and printed with metal pigments (partly oxidized). Not mounted. Somewhat creased at margins and corners, tiny tears at upper right margin, a wormhole in the left margin. Two vertical folds, as usual for kuchi-e. On the whole still in a very good condition. A rare print.
