Japan - Shunga painting
Two lying couples in love on one sheet: at the left side a couple from court, partly covered with splendid kimonos, at the right side young lovers embracing closely, dressed in the style of the genroku period, the young man with a typical Wakashû hairstyle.
Very fine painting in the ukiyo-e style of the Tosa province, with tender outlines and fine details skilfully painted on paper with ink, mineral colours, gofun and some gold. Little remains of an old mounting, some creases and folds due to its age, some smaller paper damages, otherwise good condition.
