Originally coloured copper engravings with butterflies from "Natursystem aller bekannten in- und ausländischen Insecten" by C.G. Jablonsky & J.F.W. Herbst, Berlin 1785 - 1806.

Carl Gustav Jablonsky (1756-1787) was a naturalist, especially an entomologist, but also a talented illustrator and he was the private secretary of the Queen of Prussia. Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Herbst (1743-1807) was a zoologist and he published several works on insects, but also on crustaceans and annelids. Both lived and worked in Berlin.
