Oval medallion with a portrait of St. Teresa of Avila in an ideal landscape, below title written in gold. Portrait surrounded by many painted flowers and by the names of martyrs, writtten in gold. Gouache on vellum, skilfully worked out in detail.

Eight of the flowers are cut and contain relics of Saint Teresa. These rare relics had been mounted on gauze and cardboard which were fixed from behind to the devotional picture. Spain, 18th century. 12,5 x 9 cm.

St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582), nun and founder of new convents: Patron saint of Spain, Ávila, Alba de Tormes and Naples; Patron saint of Spanish writers; against head- and hardache.
